Why these tools exist

Michiel Heijmans is a portrait photographer, street photographer and author of the Straatfotobijbel (Street Photography Bible). As former COO at Yoast, he knows the combination of craft and digital strategy from both sides. These tools grew directly from questions he encounters again and again: how do I calculate shutter speed with an ND filter, what should I charge for an assignment, how do I write an artist statement that actually sounds like me?

The answers are collected here. Free where possible, premium where extra functionality or AI genuinely adds value.

35 tools, four categories

The tools are divided into four groups. The exposure tools handle technical calculations: ND filters, depth of field, flash power, crop factor. The planning tools cover timing and location: golden hour, colour season, focal length. The business tools support you as a working photographer: rate calculation, client communication, session preparation. The learning tools are for anyone who wants to understand terminology, keyboard shortcuts or light modifiers better.

Free and premium

Most tools are free and require no account. The premium tools, which need more processing power or AI, are available with a subscription of €2.99 per month or €19.99 per year. There is a 30-day trial period.
