Rim light

Rimlicht · Light

A light source behind the subject that draws a glowing outline along the edges.

Rim light separates the subject from the background and creates a three-dimensional feel. Use it sparingly. A subtle rim on one side is more powerful than two bright edge lights. Works well against dark backgrounds.

Synonyms: Haarlicht, Separatielicht
