Vignetting

Vignettering · Lens & optics

The darkening of the corners of an image compared to the centre.

Optical vignetting is caused by the lens and is strongest at wide apertures. Stopping down fixes it. Can be corrected in post via lens profiles in Lightroom or Camera Raw. Some photographers intentionally add vignetting as a creative effect to draw attention to the centre.
