The intensity or purity of colour in a photo.

High saturation gives vivid, punchy colours. Low saturation gives muted, dull tones. At zero the photo is black and white. In Lightroom there are two separate sliders: saturation (adjusts all colours equally) and vibrance (adjusts less saturated colours more strongly, protecting skin tones).
