Telephoto lens
Telelens · Lens & optics
A lens with a long focal length that brings distant subjects closer.
On full-frame format, telephoto starts at 70mm and goes up to 800mm or more. Popular for wildlife, sport, and portrait (85mm-135mm). Compresses perspective: foreground and background appear closer together. Longer telephoto lenses are more susceptible to camera shake; use a faster shutter speed or tripod.
