Single autofocus (AF-S / One Shot)
Technique
The camera focuses and locks as soon as you half-press the shutter button.
Ideal for stationary subjects: portrait, landscape, architecture. Nikon and Sony call this AF-S, Canon calls it One Shot AF. Focus stays locked as long as you half-press, useful for recomposing after focusing.
