Fill flash

A flash that fills in shadows without dominating the image.
In bright sun or backlight, shadows on faces are very dark. A fill flash set to -1 to -2 EV gives just enough light to lift the shadows without looking "flashed". Use it on overcast days too to add a catchlight in the eyes.
