A photography style where small subjects are captured at life size or larger.
A true macro lens has a maximum magnification of 1:1: the subject is the same size on the sensor as in reality. At 1:1 the depth of field is extremely shallow: sometimes just a few millimetres. Popular subjects: insects, flowers, water droplets, object details.
