A masking technique that creates selections based on the brightness values of pixels.
Luminosity masks allow you to edit only the lightest or darkest parts of a photo with smooth transitions. Popular in landscape editing: adjusting the sky without affecting the horizon. In Photoshop created manually via Channels; in Lightroom partially available via the Range Mask function.
