An external light meter that measures incident (incoming) light rather than reflected light.
An incident light meter gives an objective exposure value independent of the subject's reflectivity. Ideal for studio shoots with flash: measure the light at the subject for exact flash power settings. Popular with filmmakers and studio photographers. Sekonic models are the standard.
