A honeycomb-shaped grid placed over a light source to concentrate and direct the light without narrowing the beam as drastically as a snoot.
A grid prevents light spill sideways: light travels straight ahead rather than spreading outward. The smaller the cells, the tighter the control. Useful for keeping the background dark while the subject is well lit. Available for softboxes, reflectors, and strobes.
