A sensor the size of a classic 35mm film negative: 36×24mm.
Advantages: more dynamic range, better high-ISO performance, no crop factor. Disadvantages: larger, heavier lenses, higher price. Not necessary for great photos - much of the best street photography has been made with smaller sensors.
