Dynamic range

Dynamisch bereik · Exposure

The range in stops between the darkest and brightest detail a sensor can capture.

The wider the dynamic range, the less likely you are to lose detail in shadows and highlights. Modern full-frame sensors achieve 14-15 stops. The human eye sees roughly 20 stops - which is why a photo never feels quite like being there.
