A form of photography that captures reality unposed to document a story or social theme.
Documentary photography has a journalistic character but doesn't have to be news: long-term projects about communities, subcultures, or social issues also fall under this genre. The photographer is observer, not director. Authenticity is the core; manipulation of reality is unacceptable.
