Slide film (reversal film)

Diafilm (omkeerfilm) · Analoog

Film that produces a positive transparent image instead of a negative.

Slide film (E-6 process) produces direct positives: you can see the result immediately by holding the slide up to light. Colours are more vivid and saturated than negative film, but exposure tolerance is narrow: half a stop off can already be too much. Well-known films: Fuji Velvia 50 (landscape, extremely saturated), Fuji Provia 100F (versatile), Kodak Ektachrome E100. Expensive to develop, but spectacular results.
