The camera continuously refocuses as long as the shutter button is half-pressed.
Essential for moving subjects: sport, wildlife, children. Nikon and Sony call this AF-C, Canon calls it AI Servo AF. Combine with burst mode for the best chance of a sharp action shot. Modern cameras with Eye AF track the subject's eye even during movement.
