Photography in which software and algorithms play a central role in creating the image.
Smartphone cameras are the most well-known example: HDR, night mode, portrait mode, and AI enhancements are all computational photography. But DSLR and mirrorless features like pixel shift, in-camera focus stacking, and AI noise reduction also fall under this umbrella. The boundary between capture and editing is increasingly blurred.
