Exposure compensation

The +/- button makes the camera expose lighter or darker than the meter suggests.
Useful in tricky situations: white dress against white wall (+1 to +2 EV), dark subject in dark surroundings (-1 EV). The meter always tries to render everything as neutral grey - exposure compensation corrects for that.
