Anamorphic lens

Anamorfische lens · Lens & optics

A lens that horizontally compresses the image during capture and stretches it at playback, producing a wide, cinematic format.

Anamorphic lenses produce characteristic horizontal lens flares (blue streaks), oval bokeh, and a wide cinematic image (up to 2.39:1). Popular in film production and with cinematographically minded photographers. On hybrid cameras with video mode they give a cinematic result without cropping.
