De scherpstelinstand waarbij alles van half die afstand tot oneindig scherp is.
Ideaal voor straatfotografie: stel scherp op de hyperfocale afstand en alles binnen het gebruikelijke bereik is scherp - geen herautofocus nodig. De afstand hangt af van brandpuntsafstand, diafragma en sensor. Bij 28mm en f/8 op fullframe is dat ongeveer 3 meter.
